Rohit Gupta

was not supposed to become a diver. With a business degree from Melbourne Business School, a career in India’s financial services sector and established businesses in Cairns, Australia, life looked complete above the waterline. Then he took his first diving course. What began as curiosity became a lifelong pursuit. Through training across PADI, SSI, and TDI, Rohit explored some of the world's most extraordinary underwater ecosystems, documenting both their beauty and vulnerability through photography. Ocean Evoke was born from that journey — founded on the belief that commerce and conservation can work together to protect the ocean.

He Dived the World. Then He Came Home to Build Something for It.

From the Great Barrier Reef to Palau, the Galápagos, and the cave systems of Mexico, Rohit Gupta spent more than a decade diving across 17 countries — experiencing some of the world’s most extraordinary marine ecosystems firsthand and witnessing how quickly they were changing.

Coral systems that had existed for centuries bleaching within seasons. Marine populations that had once thrived declining within years.

Rohit is not a scientist. He is a technical diver, photographer, and entrepreneur. Ocean Evoke was built at the intersection of those experiences — combining exploration, storytelling, and business to create something that could contribute to ocean conservation in a practical way.

India had never seen an ocean conservation brand built from the water up. Ocean Evoke exists to help change that.

Australia

2018 - 2023

This is where it all started — not just the training, but the obsession. The Great Barrier Reef showed me what scale looks like underwater. The Neptune Islands showed me sharks up close before I had the experience to fully understand what I was looking at. Australia taught me to slow down and pay attention.

North and South Ari Atolls, Hurawalhi, Oblu Select Sangeli. The Maldives doesn't try to impress you — it just quietly is. I've dived more dramatic sites since, but nothing replicated the feeling of floating through a thila mid-current, surrounded by reef life, and feeling entirely out of place in the best way.

Beqa Lagoon changed how I think about bull sharks. You realise quickly they're not aggressive — they're territorial, and completely in charge. Rainbow Reef near Taveuni was the counterpoint: soft corals so dense the water almost looked purple. Two completely different underwater worlds within the same archipelago.

WHAT MAKES THIS CREDIBLE

The Expertise Behind
Ocean Evoke

Ocean Evoke is not a product brand that talks about conservation. It is a conservation movement run by someone who has logged it, lived it, and photographed it across the world's most biodiverse marine ecosystems.

Technical Diving

TDI Mod 3 CCR — Certified to 100m

Technical Diving International’s most advanced closed-circuit rebreather certification — one of the rarest diving qualifications held in India. It enables access to depths, bottom times, and underwater environments that standard scuba training cannot reach. Every dive Rohit conducts, and every photograph in the Ocean Evoke collection, is built on this foundation.

Underwater Photography

Professional Underwater Photographer

Shooting with Canon EOS R5C and R in Ikelite and Nauticam underwater housings across 17+ countries — including cave systems, open ocean pelagic dives, and macro reef work. Rohit’s photographic archive is the source of every Ocean Evoke wall print. This is not stock imagery — it is original documentary photography from firsthand encounters with the reefs Ocean Evoke works to protect.

Marine Conservation

Ocean Conservation Advocate

A commitment, not a claim. Ocean Evoke was founded because Rohit watched reefs he had dived on bleach within years of his first visit. The brand’s conservation funding model — 1% of every sale to verified marine conservation NGOs — is the direct result of witnessing reef decline firsthand across the Coral Triangle, the Great Barrier Reef, and the Pacific. This is conservation driven by diver experience, not boardroom strategy.

Social Enterprise & Business

Founder & Social Enterprise Builder

With a background in entrepreneurship — including businesses built across India and Australia — Rohit brings the commercial rigour to turn conservation intent into a sustainable business model. Ocean Evoke is structured as a social enterprise from day one: not a donation bucket, but a proof of concept that commerce and conservation compound together. BRSR consulting, dive travel, and product sales are three revenue streams built to fund one mission.

Frequently Asked Questions

The deepest scuba-dive on record is an astounding 332.35 meters, achieved through ten years of rigorous preparation and an astonishing 13 1/2-hour dive. While certification agencies typically limit depths to a hundred meters, extreme dives require extensive practice, unwavering dedication, and attention to critical factors. Thorough training and meticulous attention are paramount to safely explore such depths.
